How We Build Stronger Teams: Our Approach to Integrations

When we ask our team what they love most about the company in the annual satisfaction survey, the top answers are always "the people". It’s no surprise—our first company value is “teamplayers at heart,” and that wouldn’t be possible if we didn’t genuinely enjoy working and spending time together. Knowing how much people in our company value each other’s company, we’re always trying to give many opportunities to connect, not just at work, but outside the office too. In this article, we’ll share some of the ways we bring our people together and how we keep the team spirit alive and well.

Knowing how much people in our company value each other’s company, we’re always trying to give many opportunities to connect, not just at work, but outside the office too. In this article, we’ll share some of the ways we bring our people together and how we keep the team spirit alive and well.

Annual Weekend Integration: A Company Tradition

The weekend integration is something we look forward to all year long! We usually head to a spot surrounded by nature, like the mountains, not too far from our headquarter. Since our team is pretty active, sports are always on the agenda—whether it’s kayaking, wakeboarding, volleyball or paintball. Even a calm grill session ends with a disco.

Every year we organize the outdoor field game, where we split into teams and compete in a fun, adventurous challenge. This year, we went for an “Asia Express”-style game, where we raced through tasks just like in the TV show. It’s always a blast and a great way to bond with everyone.

One of the most rewarding parts of our culture is seeing how much our team enjoys spending time together. It goes beyond just working well side by side—it’s about forming genuine connections. We’re lucky to have a team that values these relationships, and our role as a company is simply to create spaces for them to thrive.

Quarterly Team Integration Budgets

Each team at ULAM LABS has its own quarterly budget for team integration, so they can meet up regularly and do something fun outside of work. Some teams use it for activities like escape rooms, bowling, quizzes, or even a PixelXL workshop and disco nights. Others prefer to save their budget and go big once a year with a workation! It’s up to the teams to decide how they want to spend it, but the goal is always the same—getting together, having fun, and strengthening the bonds that make our teamwork so great.

Workation

So far, two teams at ULAM LABS have opted to use their integration budget for a workation. We’ve already written a whole article about it on our blog (you can check it out here). Our workations strike a perfect balance between work and play. What do we do during workation?  Well it’s not all fun—we walk a lot, go sightseeing, play board games, but we also organize some seriously productive brainstorming sessions.

Board Game Evenings

Of course, it’s not just about the big events or workations. We’ve made it a priority to create opportunities for regular connection throughout the year. One of our favorite ways to do this is through our monthly board game nights. It’s a fixed date in our calendars, where anyone in the company can join in for some fun, strategy, and friendly competition.

At ULAM LABS, we’re incredibly grateful that our team members genuinely enjoy each other’s company and want to spend time together outside of work. It’s something you can’t force, but we’re lucky enough to have a team that naturally clicks. As a company, all we can do is create the opportunities for them to meet, connect, and have fun—and we’re happy to do just that. Whether it’s through our big weekend integration, workations, or casual board game nights, it’s really our people who make these moments special. At the end of the day, we’re just providing the space for them to keep building those strong bonds.
